FOP Monthly Update: Officers Shot and Killed
The National Fraternal Order of Police reports that as of midnight on 30 April, there have been 135 officers shot in the line of duty so far in 2023 (+48% from 2021 YTD; +52% from 2020 YTD). Of those officers shot, 15 of them were killed by gunfire (-21% from 2021 YTD; -17% from 2020 YTD).
There have been 38 ambush-style attacks on law enforcement officers this year. These ambush-style attacks have resulted in 43 officers shot, 6 of whom were killed by gunfire.
