Elected the 19th National Secretary of the Fraternal Order of Police at the 64th Biennial Conference in New Orleans in 2019, Jimmy Holderfield has served the Order since 1978.
Jimmy was born in Logan County, West Virginia and grew up in Jacksonville, Florida. He began his law enforcement career at age 19 as a Correctional Officer with the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office. During his career, he served as a patrol officer, motorcycle traffic officer, Patrol Sergeant, Chief Investigator for the City’s General Counsel’s Office, Assistant Chief of Corrections, Assistant Chief of Patrol, Chief of Prisons, Chief of Personnel (HR), and Director of the Department of Corrections. He currently holds Florida Law Enforcement certification.
Secretary Holderfield was accepted as a member of Jacksonville Consolidated Lodge 5-30, the largest labor lodge in Florida. He served as local lodge Secretary, 1st Vice President, and President for five terms. He served as President of the Florida State Lodge for four years and he served as the National Sergeant at Arms of the National FOP. His leadership has been utilized on numerous committees at the local, state, and national levels. As Chairman of the Florida State Lodge Legislative Committee, he was instrumental in securing PTSD benefits for Florida’s First Responders.
Jimmy obtained his Associates degree in Criminal Justice from Florida Junior College, Jacksonville and his bachelor’s degree from Southern Illinois University, Carbondale. He is a graduate of the FBINA Session 236, graduate of Leadership Jacksonville Class 2012, and was a Florida Criminal Justice Standards and Training Commission certified instructor.
He has been a Board Director of the City and Police Federal Credit Union for over 30 years. He is the former Chairman of the City of Jacksonville Ethics Commission and the former Chairman of the Jacksonville Police and Fire Pension Advisory Board. In 2010, he served as Potentate of Morocco Shriners and is the former Penal Affairs Chairman of the Grand Lodge F&AM of Florida. He was honored by Rotary International as a Paul Harris Fellow.
Secretary Holderfield has been married to his wife and FOP partner, Pam, since 1979. They have two sons, James and Kenny. James is a Detective with the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office. They also have two granddaughters, Olivia and Julia.
