Dear Mr. President-elect,
I am writing on behalf of the members of the Fraternal Order of Police to ask that you consider Michael R. Regan, a former U.S. Marshal, for the position of the Director of the U.S. Marshals Service.
His career in the United States Marshals Service began in 1988 where he served in the Southern District of Florida and in the Middle District of Pennsylvania as a Deputy U.S. Marshal. In 2002, he was appointed as the United States Marshal for the Middle District of Pennsylvania, where he served for nine years. After his service with the U.S. Marshals, he was elected to the Pennsylvania General Assembly and served for 12 years in both the state House and Senate, where he chaired the Law and Justice Committee, among other assignments.
With 23 years of experience in the Marshals service, Michael has demonstrated a profound dedication to public safety and justice. When he was Commander of the Fugitive Task Force in the Middle District, they were credited with apprehending countless fugitives across the globe. I am confident that his leadership not only advances the goals of your Administration and the U.S. Department of Justice, but also enhance the safety and security of all American citizens.
Michael Regan would be an outstanding director who would execute his duties with unwavering and unselfish dedication to the law enforcement community and the American people. On behalf of the more than 377,000 members of the Fraternal Order of Police, I strongly recommend Michael for this appointment and hope that you will consider him for the post. If I can provide any additional information in support of Michael, please do not hesitate to contact me or Executive Director Jim Pasco in our Washington, D.C. office.
Sincerely,
Patrick Yoes
National President
