Dear Administrator Roth,
I am writing on behalf of the members of the Fraternal Order of Police to congratulate you on being confirmed by the United States Senate to serve as our nation’s Administrator of the National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) within the U.S. Department of Commerce. We look forward to working with you—especially on the urgent need for Congress to reauthorize the First Responder Network Authority (FirstNet).
It has been our pleasure to work with you in your prior roles at the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) and most recently as Policy Director for the Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation. You have always been an effective partner, and we have known for some time that a person of your substance, integrity, and expertise would be a leader on these issues.
Your expertise in telecommunications and spectrum-related issues and broad knowledge about the communications needs of law enforcement, especially with respect to the Nationwide Public Safety Broadband Network (NPSBN), will make you an exceptional NTIA Administrator. We would encourage you to maintain the current configuration of the FirstNet Authority Board, which is the lynchpin of FirstNet’s integrity and transparency. We stand ready to assist you.
On behalf of the more than 377,000 members of the Fraternal Order of Police, please accept our congratulations on your confirmation and our best wishes for success in your new role. Please do not hesitate to contact me or Executive Director Jim Pasco in our Washington, D.C. office if we can be of help in any way.
Sincerely,
Patrick Yoes
National President
