Dear Mr. President and Attorney General Bondi,
I am writing on behalf of the members of the Fraternal Order of Police to advise you of our strong support and partnership with the Pro Football Hall of Fame and the National Football League’s (NFL) Alumni Association in their effort to ensure that funding and resources are provided to State and local law enforcement to find missing kids and fight human trafficking.
We join with these partners and other law enforcement organizations to request the support of the U.S. Department of Justice to provide funding for training, awareness, and prevention resources, including the distribution of ten million child identification (ID) kits nationwide each year to law enforcement agencies. We must ensure that the most vulnerable families have access to these life-saving tools and prevention materials. Outreach efforts to churches, daycare providers, schools, and public housing are important opportunities for distributing child ID kits, building trust with vulnerable
populations, and working to fight child exploitation and human trafficking.
According to the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s (FBI) National Crime Information Center, more than 360,000 missing children reports are filed annually. In missing children cases, every second counts. Prevention, awareness, and tools for parents such as child ID kits, can save law enforcement time and resources in the search for a missing or trafficked child. We are proud of our partnership with the Pro Football Hall of Fame and the National NFL’s Alumni Association on this issue.
On behalf of the more than 377,000 members of the Fraternal Order of Police, we look forward to working with both of you to find missing kids and reunite them with their families and combat human trafficking in our country. If I can provide any additional information in support of these efforts, please do not hesitate to contact me or Executive Director Jim Pasco in our Washington, D.C. office.
Sincerely,
Patrick Yoes
National President
