Repeal of WEP/GPO Is Upon Us: We Need Your Immediate Action
I am pleased to report that the lead sponsors of H.R. 82, the Social Security Fairness Act, Representatives Garret N. Graves (R-La.) and Abigail D. Spanberger (D-Va.), are now united in an effort to use a House procedure known as a discharge petition to force a vote on their bill. A discharge petition is a House procedure that will automatically “discharge” the bill from committee and bring it to the floor for a vote. The petition is an actual document that must be physically signed by at least 218 members of the House. In this case, we are going to be discharging a special rule, H. Res. 1364, that will govern the debate on H.R. 82 — if we get 218 signatures on the petition. Read More
