President Trump’s executive action to intervene in crime in Washington, D.C., has stirred plenty of debate. I’m not interested in the noise. I’m interested in numbers and the people behind them. In 2023, D.C. saw 265 homicides. In 2024, that number fell to 186. On paper, that’s progress. In real life, it’s 186 families shattered.
