Washington, DC - Patrick Yoes, National President of the Fraternal Order of Police, released the following statement in recognition of today’s annual Law Enforcement Appreciation Day:
“The National Fraternal Order of Police joins communities across the nation today in recognizing Law Enforcement Appreciation Day, honoring the dedication, courage, and professionalism of the men and women who protect and serve our communities every day,” said Yoes. “Today is an opportunity to pause and recognize the daily commitment that our officers make—often quietly and without fanfare—to keep our neighborhoods safe. They respond at all hours and in all conditions, facing uncertainty and great risk in order to help people they may never meet again, so today we express our thanks a little bit louder.”
The FOP also acknowledged the families of law enforcement officers, whose support makes their service possible. “Behind every badge is a family that shares the selfless sacrifices of our public servants,” Yoes continued. “We honor them today as well.
“The FOP extends its gratitude to Representatives Tim Moore and Don Davis for today’s resolution expressing support for the law enforcement community. Building on this momentum, today marks a good opportunity to reemphasize the need for Congress to swiftly pass the ‘Protect and Serve Act’ to ensure that those who target our law enforcement officers are held to the fullest extent of the law. They work tirelessly to protect us, and they deserve our unwavering protection and support in return.”
