Washington, DC - Patrick Yoes, National President of the Fraternal Order of Police, applauded President Trump’s proposal to increase the pay of Federal law enforcement officers in 2026.
Under the proposal, Federal employees under the General Schedule will receive a 1.0% base pay increase beginning in January 2026. In addition, the President has directed the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) to provide a separate pay adjustment for Federal law enforcement officers, bringing their overall pay raise to 3.8%—equivalent to the increase being provided to military personnel.
“Federal law enforcement officers put their lives on the line every day, whether they are protecting Federal facilities, enforcing our nation’s immigration laws, or safeguarding our communities,” said Yoes. “These men and women face the same recruitment and retention challenges as State and local officers, and the President’s proposal sends a strong message that the service and sacrifice of these Federal officers are valued.”
OPM will consult with Federal departments and agencies, including the U.S. Departments of Homeland Security, Justice and the Interior, to determine which categories of law enforcement officers are eligible for the additional pay increase. The FOP will work with the White House and OPM to ensure that all Federal officers get the raise.
“Every Federal officer deserves this raise,” Yoes said. “We will continue working to ensure that those who protect and serve the American people are compensated fairly.”
