Washington, DC - Patrick Yoes, National President of the Fraternal Order of Police, spoke in support of the National Flag Foundation’s (NFF) plan to celebrate the 250th anniversary of America’s creation with a sojourn across our great nation.
“I can think of no better way to honor the sacrifice and courage that this country is built upon than a two-year journey honoring those who lost their lives in the service of freedom,” Yoes said. “As law enforcement officers, we understand what it is like to put our lives on the line in service to our country, and we honor our fallen heroes as we move closer to our country’s 250th birthday.”
On 14 June, the flag was presented to the American Battle Monuments Commission, where it will travel the world visiting all 26 U.S. military cemeteries in 10 countries. When it returns to the United States, the flag will travel through the country, concluding its journey on the Fourth of July 2026, and will be given to the America 250th Committee and raised in Washington, D.C.
As we move closer to our great nation’s birthday, we must continue to instill the importance of public service to our citizens, particularly those who serve or have served under our Stars and Stripes,” Yoes continued. “I am proud to support the efforts of the National Flag Foundation and look forward to celebrating with them as we move closer to America’s 250th anniversary.”
