Washington, DC - Patrick Yoes, National President of the Fraternal Order of Police, applauded the announcement that Madison D. Sheahan, currently the Secretary of the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF), has been asked to serve as the next Deputy Director of the Immigration, Customs, and Enforcement (ICE) within the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS).
“This is terrific news,” Yoes said. “President Trump has made an outstanding choice in selecting Secretary Sheahan as Deputy Director for ICE. She is a dynamic and proven law enforcement leader who will be a tremendous asst to ICE.”
As Secretary of the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF), Sheahan restructured the Department’s law enforcement division, which improved its efficiency and accountability. During her tenure, she secured an across the board pay raise for the agency’s more than 200 sworn law enforcement officers, which helped the agency address the challenges it faced when it came to retaining and recruiting quality officers. The Louisianna Wildlife Officers Association gave their strong endorsement of Ms. Sheahan, citing her proven track record of success in spearheading safety and security operations.
“This is the kind of leadership we need at ICE,” Yoes said. “She prioritized public safety by partnering with other law enforcement agencies like the Louisiana State Police. Under her leadership, she established a Special Operations Group within the enforcement division to assist in protecting the public during high-profile events like Mardi Gras and the Super Bowl. Indeed, the LDWF provided critical support during the horrific terrorist attack on Bourbon Street.
“President Trump is charting the course for public safety,” Yoes said. “With Secretary Noem and the new leadership at the helm at DHS, we are confident that our country is in safer hands.”
