Washington, DC - Patrick Yoes, National President of the Fraternal Order of Police, announced that the FOP will be launching its new COVID-19 website today. This new website will contain comprehensive COVID-19 information to ensure that the men and women of law enforcement are equipped with the most accurate and up-to-date information to help them protect and serve their communities amidst the national pandemic.
“From the very onset of this pandemic, we knew that COVID-19 would present various new challenges to the men and women of law enforcement and would require the FOP to take action,” Yoes said. “We believed that the combination of misinformation and information overload had the potential to put our law enforcement officers at risk. That’s why the FOP is launching our new COVID-19 Information website.”
While COVID-19 is without a doubt a public health crisis, it is also a public safety concern. Law enforcement officers—more than 90% of whom will be responding from local and State agencies—will require the most accurate and up-to-date COVID-19 information to help them protect and serve their communities amidst the national pandemic. The site will contain the National FOP’s activity in response to COVID-19, the most up-to-date Federal guidance for law enforcement and resources pertaining to officer wellness and model practices and policies.
“We are in uncharted waters. This new website will be a useful tool for our nation’s law enforcement officers during this time of uncertainty,” Yoes said. “Our 350,000 members will continue to do the jobs they have sworn an oath to do at a time of extraordinary personal risk to their health. We have a responsibility to make sure they have all the tools and resources necessary to beat the virus.”
