Individual Practice

Sarah Farnaby, PsyD

The mission of OTR is to provide ethical and professional clinical services to all our clients. We run our practice with integrity and as a team. Our commitment to our clients is to empower, support, and guide them on a journey of healing and growth.
OTR believes that in order to provide the best treatment, clinicians should be flexible and diverse in their therapeutic approach and meet their clients where they are at. Good treatment does not simply come in the form of a worksheet, a manual, a quick technique, or a text book. When you look at the big picture of therapy you see CBT woven into practice with other theoretical approaches to truly address the person as a whole. This begins with building trust and knowledge in your area of specialty. We also know the importance of “showing up” for those that need our help. We make ourselves available more than a general practice for our first responders in the area due to the significant increase in need. We make it a point that they know our door is always open for them at any time.

Payments

Insurance accepted as a Group practice for formal therapy: Carefirst/Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna, Aetna, and Tricare East. We also provide the option of low fee or sliding scale based on need. First Responder Wellness checks and supportive services are free.

Treatment

I utilize an Integrated approach using varied cognitive behavioral techniques, solution focused, and psychodynamic when needed. Treatment is developed according to the individual client’s needs. A majority of my treatment approach is trauma informed. Exposure treatment and crisis intervention is utilized with specific critical incidents or traumatic experiences but is not the only tool. I provide individual and couples therapy alongside consultation and debrief or other supportive services as needed. We are not a Fitness for Duty provider. I have a team of 13 clinicians all with trauma informed training/experience and different skill sets.
I have a First Responder Wellness Program (FRWP) that is utilized by many departments in the area. We provide a free service in which a first responder can walk in or call us and talk to a therapist on staff at any time and have a wellness check. Typically they may be seen a few times and often then begin formal therapy if needed. Within the FRWP we also provide other supportive services when needed or requested which includes but is not limited to debriefs, groups, training or presentations. Any wellness checks or contact remains fully confidential.
