Dear Senators Thune and Schumer,
I am writing on behalf of the members of the Fraternal Order of Police to urge the United States Senate to swiftly confirm Todd W. Blanche as Attorney General of the United States.
As of this morning, his nomination has been favorably reported by the Committee on the Judiciary and the Senate previously confirmed him when he was nominated to serve as Deputy Attorney General last year. There is no reason for any further delay. An effective, confirmed leader at the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) is essential to the Department’s mission of upholding the rule of law, supporting public safety, and partnering with the men and women of law enforcement who protect our communities every day.
As Deputy Attorney General and later as Acting Attorney General, Mr. Blanche has worked to strengthen partnerships between the DOJ and State and local law enforcement agencies. Once confirmed, we are confident Mr. Blanche will continue to prioritize officer safety, wellness, and operational effectiveness. The FOP looks forward to working with him to strengthen programs that directly support our members, including those administered by the Office of Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS).
On behalf of the more than 382,000 members of the Fraternal Order of Police, we respectfully urge the Senate to act promptly to confirm Todd W. Blanche as Attorney General. If you need any further information regarding the FOP’s strong support for this nomination, please do not hesitate to contact me or Executive Director Jim Pasco in our Washington office.
Sincerely,
Patrick Yoes
National President
