Dear Mr. Chairman and Senator Peters,
I am writing on behalf of the members of the National Fraternal Order of Police to advise you of our full and enthusiastic support for R. Lance Schroyer to serve as the next Director of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) within the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS).
With close to 30 years of law enforcement experience, Mr. Schroyer’s distinguished career spans back to his time as a United States Marine and an Oklahoma State Trooper—two roles that alone signal a selfless and sincere dedication to service and public safety. They further undoubtedly afforded him the ability and experience needed to lead the Emergency Services Unit (ESU) in the Oklahoma Department of Public Safety (DPS)/Oklahoma Highway Patrol (OHP). In that capacity, he directed the operational activity of numerous units responsible for disaster response, high-risk warrant execution, hostage crises, immigration enforcement, threat assessment, rapid response, and specialized tactical operations. He served at the OHP for 26 years and was awarded the Medal of Valor in 2011 before retiring with the rank of Major in May 2026.
Mr. Schroyer now serves as the Senior Advisor to DHS Secretary Markwayne Mullin where he oversees the strategic coordination of immigration enforcement and coordinates joint operations among local, regional, and Federal law enforcement agencies. His career has been defined by exemplary service, and we are confident that he would lead ICE with unwavering integrity, dignity, and fairness.
Executive Director Jim Pasco and I had the opportunity to meet Mr. Schroyer earlier this month and we were very impressed by him. He possesses extraordinary leadership and vision with respect to the vital role ICE plays in protecting public safety and how the agency can better interact with its State and local partners to make our borders and our communities safer.
We believe that President Trump made an outstanding choice in nominating Mr. Schroyer, and on behalf of the more than 382,000 members of the National Fraternal Order of Police, we are proud to endorse his nomination.
