FOP Monthly Update: Officers Shot and Killed

The National Fraternal Order of Police regrets to report that as of midnight on 31 July, there have been 198 officers shot in the line of duty in 2026 (+0% from 2025 YTD; -12% from 2024 YTD). Of those officers shot 17 of them were killed (-34% from 2025 YTD; -46% from 2024 YTD). The year with the highest number of officers shot through this date was 2023, when 228 officers were shot through the first seven months of that year.

There have been 27 ambush-style attacks on law enforcement officers this year. These ambush-style attacks have resulted in 36 officers shot, 6 of whom were killed. To read the full report, please click here.
