Washington, DC - In a letter to the leaders of the U.S. House of Representatives, Patrick Yoes, National President of the Fraternal Order of Police (FOP), urged the House to bring an end to the months-long partisan gridlock and pass S. 2, the “Secure America Act.”
“The bill provides critical funding for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS), U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), and related law enforcement priorities that are vital to the safety of our neighborhoods, communities, and our nation.
“The FOP has spent months demanding that Congress do its job and provide the funding these agencies need to do their jobs and enforce our laws. The ‘Secure America Act’ will provide DHS and its law enforcement components with substantial multi-year funding to strengthen our nation's defenses against illegal immigration, transnational criminal organizations, terrorists, and other threats to our country by enhancing operational capabilities, supporting our personnel, and helping ensure that law enforcement has the resources and tools necessary to protect our communities.
“On behalf of the more than 382,000 members of the Fraternal Order of Police, we urge the House to move swiftly to pass the “Secure America Act” and send it to the President for his signature.”
