Jay McDonald

National Vice President

Jay was elected Vice President in Pittsburgh in 2015.

Vice President McDonald joined the Fraternal Order of Police the same day he joined the Marion Police Department. Jay became very active in his local lodge early in his career, becoming President of Ohio Lodge 24 in 1997. During his tenure as President, a local political screening process was established, a Memorial was built to honor the fallen officers of Marion County and the Lodge re-engaged in the State and National FOP.

Jay was elected to the Ohio State Board of Trustees in 1999 and served as District Trustee, 2nd Vice President, and State Secretary before being elected President in 2010. As President, Jay helped lead the fight against an attack on public employee collective bargaining that was repealed by Ohio voters in the first ever statewide vote on public employee collective bargaining rights, which was hugely successful and that law was defeated by a 61-39% margin.

Jay is an active member of the Marion, Ohio police department, where he has served in the Operations (patrol), Administration and Investigations Bureaus of the agency. He currently is a Major, assigned as the Commander of the Investigations Bureau where he leads a major crime unit and a county-wide drug task force.

Jay is married to wife Amy, a former deputy sheriff and a member of the FOP, and they have three children and one grandchild.
